Question #5: Is there a prophetic component to these events in the Middle East?

“…There clearly is and it’s profound. In 1 Thessalonians 5:3 it says, “For when they shall say, ‘Peace and safety!’ then sudden destruction shall come upon them, as travail upon a woman with a child. And they shall not escape.” There’s not a single person in the Middle East right now who could say that they’re living in peace and safety. That tells me that peace and safety has to come about as a result of some type of realignment in order for that particular verse to come true, and I think what we’re seeing is possibly the genesis of that particular set of circumstances to where we can see a peace treaty that is put into place in the Middle East that’s going to allow people to say we’re living in peace and safety…
Also, I want to go back to a military answer…, and that is there’s a common thread through all of this that is of great concern to our adversaries and that is ballistic missile defense. The Reagan Star Wars Initiative that the academics laughed at and said was theoretically impossible and that the politicians denounced and said it was not affordable works and it works extremely well.
We just installed the THAAD missile system in Poland, which has got Russia very, very concerned, and we just installed it in South Korea, which is really rattling the cage of both China and North Korea. In Israel, they have the Iron Dome, and we’ve gotten the chance to see in great detail exactly how effective the Iron Dome is against short-range missile threats. David’s Sling just went into operation last week, it’s the middle tier ballistic missile defense system, and Arrow, which is their high-altitude, long-range ballistic missile defense system, is in place. As of last week, Israel has all three layers of their ballistic missile defense system in place and operational.
The United States has played a big role into that, and we’re putting our systems into place. That takes some of the threat from some of these major players like Russia and China off the table. That is driving a major portion of this strategic realignment and rebalancing of power. Technology is going to continue to drive this, and the countries that can integrate and implement and execute technological advances more rapidly than the other side are always going to have an advantage on the battlefield.
From a Biblical perspective, if you look at what the Bible says about what the alliances are in the last days, we’ve talked about this before on your show, in Ezekiel 38 and 39 there is a listing of the countries that are going to be aligned for a major battle. If you look, those countries are the ones that are aligning themselves with Syria today. Egypt and Jordan are not in that list, and frankly those are powerhouses in the Middle East. Ezekiel’s war basically lists all the Sunni countries, and what’s amazing to me is that list was developed a thousand years before those Sunni countries even existed as Sunni countries. It was perfectly foretold, and we’re seeing that alliance come together before our very eyes.
It says that there is going to be a major war in the Middle East and frankly around the world the likes of which has never been seen. I think it’s going to be savage. I think it’s going to be intense. I think while we don’t know when it’s going to start, clearly the foundations are being laid for that even as we speak. As I said in the very opening, this is the most exciting of times, this is the most troubling of times.”
