Sam Rohrer:

Well, hello and welcome to this Thursday edition of Stand In the Gap Today, and it’s also our bimonthly focus on the Constitution and American history with recurring guest, constitutional attorney, author and public speaker David New. Now as we further enter this new year in the early days of the Trump administration. As I said, clearly in the past days on this program change and major change is happening and will continue to happen. With the signing of now over 350 executive orders requests for resignation from over 2 million of the 3 million federal workers on elected federal workforce to agreements with big tech billionaires to build advanced AI data collection and surveillance centers across the country for the purpose of, as they say, tracking every aspect of American life from doctors’ visits and health diagnosis and treatment to linking and monitoring every input from every camera in the nation, including local police body cams and dash cams.

That’s what the billionaire said they were going to do. Change is happening and happening fast and while these changes are types of changes are indeed perilous, some of them are under any scenario, there are also potential new opportunities for advancements and good things in areas of religious freedom example in America and with orders to cease and desist in the promotion and advancement of woke DEI and many anti-Christian policies of the Biden administration, be they in the military or agencies of the federal government and public education, good change can be expected and should be prayed for. And I must insert at this point here my deep sorrow for the death of nearly 70 people in the midair collision last night in Washington DC when a military Black Hawk helicopter directly hit an American Airlines flight plunging both into the icy waters of the Potomac. And just as President Trump just said, I just listened to him moments ago in a White House press conference and as Secretary of Transportation, Sean Duffy said and agreed, this is a tragedy that should have never happened.

There is no justification as the Secretary of Transportation said, there is no justification for what happened and the likelihood as both he and the president said, the likelihood of inferior air traffic controllers or even perhaps the helicopter pilot due to DEI policies, putting unqualified people incredibly important positions, this is coming forth as perhaps the greatest cause. In my words, perhaps we’ve just witnessed the eternal principle of reaping and sowing and that choices do have consequences. Some of them are really tough consequences. So I ask you in this regard, and I wanted not say anything more about this theme right now, but join me next Wednesday as I’m going to have with me the Lord willing at that point, the pilot, the actual pilot of the actual Black Hawk helicopter that was the feature in Blackhawk down the movie about the extraction of our military from Libya.

He’s going to be with me, he’s a believer. We’re going to discuss what we can learn from what just happened and other things, some of the consequences that have been occurring from some of these woke policies. So just hold that off, observe what’s taking place, listen to the news, but I just give a list of a few thoughts on that right now. However, I’m going to change gears. However, hopeful we may be about changes that are being take place. We must remember that those who oppose a greater influence of biblical truth and Jesus Christ in America are still there and they have by no means given up on their dark anti-God policies for our nation. In fact, one individual has written a very provocative book entitled The End of White Christian America. The author’s name is Robert P. Jones. He’s the CEO of the Public Religion Research Institute. He holds also a PhD in religion from Emory University and an M Div, believe it or not, from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary. Robert Jones claims that sometime in the Obama administration, the United States ceased to be a majority nation of white Christians. And on today’s program I want to discuss this book with guest attorney David New, the title I’ve chosen to frame today’s discussion is The End of White Christian America, an analysis of the book. And with that, David, welcome to the program. Thanks for being here.

David New:

Nice to be with you,

Sam Rohrer:

David, before we get into the main topic of today that I’ve just introduced, there is another thing after initiative referred to as the 65 project formed as they say on their website to defending democracy and the rule of law, something which sounds positive, but we know often are code words for efforts which are nefarious. Tell us what the 65 project is and what its purpose is all about.

David New:

This is something the public doesn’t know that was going on back in 2020 in subsequent years. This project was a group of activists. Let me read it to you. I’ll tell you exactly what they’re about. It says The 65 project is a legal activism campaign to seeking to disbar and discredit Trump affiliated lawyers who worked on lawsuits supporting Trump’s attempt to overturn the 2020 election. So if President Trump hired you as his lawyer and your job was to try to prove the case that was going on in the jurisdiction that you’re at, that it was unfair election and so forth, these lawyers who are supporters of Biden are not going after Trump. They’re going after Trump’s lawyers. This is very interesting. I’ve never heard of this before. It’s possible it has, but I’ve never seen something like this done. And it’s called 65 Project because there are basically 65 lawsuits filed on behalf of President Trump to, as they say, overturn the 2020 election and the way they can do it, and they’ve had some success.

Alan Dershowitz, by the way, a very popular and famous lawyer in the United States was sanctioned by the court by these people. They managed to get them. Alan Dershowitz was representing a case for Lake versus Hobb, that’s Carrie Lake who ran for office and Alan Dershowitz filed the pleadings. And if your pleadings don’t measure up, if you file something so stupid or reckless that there’s no way you could possibly when you could be sanctioned by the court, it is called Federal Rules of Civil Procedure. You can download it for free. It’s called Rule 11 Sanctions. Rule 11 sanctions. That’s the rule that all lawyers fear more than anything.

Sam Rohrer:

Well, David, alright ladies and gentlemen, that was just a little bit of a teaser right there. We may say some more on it or we may move on actually to our focus today, the end of White Christian America. There’s an effort by a lot of people to undo a lot of things. Rewrite history, this is a part of that and we’ll talk more about it when we come back here in the next segment. Well, if you’re just joining us, we’re at the beginning of the program here today, regular guest, constitutional attorney, author, and public speaker. David New is with me and I know many of you appreciate him and these programs that we do that are dealing with the Constitution and American history and work in things of some type that connect in that theme. But the focus here today, the title I’ve chosen is The End of White Christian America, an analysis of the book because there is a book by that name and we’re going to talk about that now further in the program.

But David, you recently came across actually book the focus of this program today written by Robert P. Jones entitled The End of White Christian America. It was published by Simon and Schuster. I went back and I looked at that a little bit. It was actually interestingly published by Simon and Schuster, they say on July 4th, 2017. Now, in my opinion, the title is intriguing but not possible to figure out exactly what it means just by looking at that. And it’s interesting that this fellow who wrote it seminary trained and he’s president and founder of Public Religion Research Institute. You can’t tell exactly by that title what point he’s making. However, David, I thought I would share this before I go in to ask your comments on the book as you read it. When I researched it further, I found that this same individual, same man in July of 2021 that would’ve been just four years later, wrote a book entitled White Too Long, white Too Long, where in the official book review Online it says this, an indispensable study drawing on history, public opinion, surveys and personal experience that presents a provocative examination of the unholy relationship between American Christianity and white supremacy.

Wow, that made things a little bit more clear for me in some regards. And while that book title is more clear, just last September, September, 2024, just a few months ago, Simon and Schuster, the same group, released his latest book entitled The Hidden Roots of White Supremacy, where the official book review says that he tracks white supremacy in America back to 1493. Wow. And according to New York Times, David is they say this, this book helps to chart a new course toward genuinely pluralistic democracy. So taken together ladies and gentlemen, and David, I believe the three book titles and those who support his work leads any thinking person to know that this man is on a mission that in my opinion is not based on either history, truth, or objectivity. Now with that introduction, David, my comments are based on the author, the publisher, or the promoters and what they have said. I have not read the book, but you have, what does the author mean in his book, white Christian America, and why does he use the term white?

David New:

Well, it’s sad that he does that. So many of these liberals and progressive liberals and leftists see everything in terms of race. Now the title of the book is quite provocative. It says The End of White Christian America. Let me read to you the very first sentence of this book, an obituary. The title chapter is in Obituary for White Christian America. The first sentence says, after a long life spanning nearly 240 years, white Christian America, a prominent cultural force in the nation’s history has died. White Christian America first began to exhibit troubling symptoms in the 1960s when white mainline Protestant denominations began to shrink. So what this guy is saying when he says white Christian America, I think it’s important to define exactly what he’s talking about. He’s not talking about white Catholics, he doesn’t include them in this group. He means solely white Protestants.

And for some reason he doesn’t say Christian America has been ruling for 240 years, but it’s now died. He’s saying it’s white Christian America and when he does that, it’s as if somehow Christian America is responsible for slavery and for white supremacy and all this kind of thing is completely unjust. Now, let me give you some key statistics. He says, we cease to become a majority white Christian American country while President Obama was president. President Obama was president from January, 2009 to January, 2017. Now, his statistics say basically this, in 2008, 2009 timeframe, 54% of America was white Christian America, white Protestant America. But by the end of Obama’s presidency in 2017, he estimates that only 42% of the United States was white Christian America. This is a very racist way to view the world and it’s very unjust. Now there are, when you see these statistics, 54 versus 42 at the beginning and at the end of Obama, different scholars have different numbers.

It’s kind of hard to pin them down too hard. It’s difficult to know exact numbers, but what’s so unfair about this is that the most powerful source in the world against racism, against slavery was Christian America was Christianity. That was the most powerful source. For example, if Reuters news surface is correct, if Reuters is correct, the very first government in the world to end slavery was the independent country of Vermont. Vermont at this time, the year was 1777. Vermont at this time was an independent nation. It had yet to join the United States. It would not join the United States till after the Constitution was ratified and Vermont became the 14th state, the very next one after the first 13th. Now, here’s what Reuters said, 1777, the state of Vermont, an independent republic after the American Revolution becomes the first sovereign state to abolish slavery. That is amazing. Where else can that have happened? Nowhere. Vermont was the very first, and to show you how far ahead Christianity was in dealing with slavery, slavery has always, the worst folk slavery has ever had was Christianity. Listen to these statistics, the Muslim world, Iran did not end slavery until 1929.

Qatar did not end slavery until 1952. Saudi Arabia and Yemen, which we hear of all the time in the news, did not make slavery illegal until 1962, Oman 1970, the record for Christianity to end slavery is infinitely better. And the tragedy is there are more slaves in the world today than existed in the total number of slaves that were in North America for about 400 years.

Sam Rohrer:

David, those are really remarkable numbers that you cite. Probably most people listening did not know about Vermont as an example. That’s more than significant. But this fellow in his other work tracks it according to New York Times praising him, tracks it back to how the hidden roots of white supremacy goes all the way back to 1493. That’s a year after Christopher Columbus comes. So that’s why I made my statement. In my opinion, what we’re hearing from him is not based on history as what you cited or the truth, but there is some strategic reason why he’s doing what he’s doing. Lemme just ask you just very, very quick question. What point is he making? What is this guy trying to make in his book?

David New:

What these people are trying to do is they’re trying to bring down America. That’s what they’re trying to do. Now he says 1493 because he is probably referring to Columbus Landing in the North American continent in the Caribbean, in the West Indies in 1493, and he sees that as a white invasion. Well, the problem is, and I’m sad to say this, slavery is not a function of white people. Slavery is a function of all races, all colors. Before Columbus ever arrived in the Caribbean, slavery was practiced by the American Indians. They enslaved each other. There were friendly tribes, but there were very dangerous tribes. Some of them engaged in ethnic cleansing.

Sam Rohrer:

If they did and hold that, David, we’ll come back and we’ll build that out a little bit more. But ladies and gentlemen, isn’t that the truth as we talk about in this program, how we go back to everything’s a basis of worldview. Slavery is not a worldview of Christianity or the Bible to the contrary, freedom is anything other than that. We’ll take you that direction. Stay with us. We’ll fill in more details next. Alright, David, let’s go further into this book, the End of White Christian America written by Robert P. Jones, who happens to be the president and the founder of Public Religion Research Institute. Sounds oppressive, as I mentioned earlier in reading is by He Happens also to have a seminary degree from Southwestern Baptist Seminary of all things strange. But when you read this book and I asked you in the last segment what point was he really trying to make, I’m going to ask you to expand a little bit further and then to give and share some other findings, things that stood out to you that were in the book.

But every book has some goal. Sometimes we read to entertain. Some books are designed to manipulate people or to promote propaganda. Some books like the Word of God is written to instruct in matters of truth. Only one book like the Bible of that body of truth sometimes books people read just to temporarily escape into some dream world. I mean, there’s a lot of reasons why books are written and those of us are readers know that. But in your opinion, when you read the book, to whom is this book written? Who’s the audience as you were able to tell by reading this book and what is the ultimate call to action? What is this author trying to get people to do or to think as a result of the reading of the book?

David New:

What he wants is for his readers to celebrate the end of Christian America and to make sure, it’s a very nasty thing to say to us. It’s white Christian America. He doesn’t include white Catholics. He only does the white Protestants. So he wants his audience to realize that what he calls white Christian America is in trouble and is going to get in more trouble in the future. Now, for example, he said one of the things that I’ve never seen before, I’ve never interpreted the 21st Amendment to the US Constitution the way he did. And of course ladies and gentlemen, the 21st Amendment passed in 1933 repealed prohibition so you could start drinking things again, alcohol, he sees that amendment as a weakness of white Christian America. He says that’s one of the indications that white Christian America was in trouble. That’s interesting. He says there are still six states in the United States that are majority or near majority white Christian America.

They are the state of Alabama, Arkansas, Tennessee, Kentucky, and West Virginia. He includes South Carolina, but he points out that South Carolina is different because it just is South Dakota rather because it just doesn’t have very many people. So he definitely is trying to do everything he can to celebrate the fall of what he sees in racial terms. As a white man’s religion, Christianity appeals to all races everywhere in the world. And I’ll tell you a little secret that a lot of people don’t know. If the United States had followed biblical law for how to handle slaves, slavery would’ve ended much sooner in this country. Remember on American law, a slave was property under biblical law. He was not. Why would slavery ended much sooner than it did if we followed biblical law? Because if a slave runs away under biblical law, you do not return the slave back to the master You give sanctuary.

Deuteronomy 23 verse 15, Deuteronomy 23 verse 15. If the Bible is for slavery, that is crazy that the Bible would have a verse saying, do not return the slave. Now Paul returned Onesimus back to Philemon, but he was doing it pursuant to Roman law, not Jewish law. And even then in the book of Philemon in verse 21, he basically is asking F, leaving to free onus the next rule, why slavery wouldn’t last in the United States, A Hebrew master cannot own a slave, a Hebrew slave longer than six years. That’s Deuteronomy 15, 12, Deuteronomy 15 and verse 12, if we followed that rule in the United States, no lifetime slavery. Next problem. If in the biblical law the master hurt his slave such as breaking his tooth or hurting his eye, the slave must go free. Exodus 21 versus 26 and 27, Exodus 21 verses 26 and 27.

Now you can imagine what that would mean. You can’t get the slave back if he runs away. You can’t have him for more than six years and you can’t be particularly nasty to him because if you do, he gets to walk. And when he does walk after six years of serving you, you’ve got to give him a stake. You’ve got to give him enough property to have a start. Where’s that Deuteronomy, the 15th chapter verses 13 and 14, Deuteronomy 15 verses 13 and 14. If we had followed biblical law in the United States, slavery would’ve ended much sooner than it did, especially after the 1808 date when the slave trade was ceased. When you couldn’t legally bring slaves into the United States, that law began to take effect on January 1st during the Jefferson Administration in 1808. After that, you’re going to have problems trying to keep the population of a slave going in this country big time.

Sam Rohrer:

David, that is a great treatise. Really, really. It was an apologetic for what really is the biblical underpinnings and teaching that leads to freedom. And as you were saying, and I’ll add onto that, biblically, we know that we are all slaves in our original birth condition to sin. That’s the worst type of slavery ever because it takes a person to hell. Well, freedom comes by faith in Jesus Christ. That’s why God so loved the world, ladies and gentlemen, that he gave his only begotten son that whosoever believeth in him should have everlasting life. That is liberty. That is freedom. Now, where does that concept come from? Sure doesn’t come from Islam. Sure doesn’t come from atheism. Sure doesn’t come from Chinese communism. It already comes from one place. All of them are about control and slavery of different types. It’s only Christianity that talks about bringing liberty to the land, which is on our liberty. Bell proclaimed liberty throughout the land. That’s because of Christianity. David, isn’t it amazing that between what I just cited there and what you were citing of how much deception and lies people have to purposely choose to believe in order to hold a position like this fellow who wrote this end of white Christian America? I mean, it’s incredible how people can take the truth, distort it, history, rewrite it, and come up with something totally different. It’s amazing, isn’t it?

David New:

Yes. The most powerful lies in the world. If you want to be a liar, if you want to be a good liar, you want to tell a lot of truth, but just leave out certain facts. So like if there are five key facts on an issue, you’ll tell maybe four and leave out the fifth. And that gives you the opportunity to distort the picture. It’s the parable of the wheat and the terrors. The angels could not separate the good from the bad. You had to wait till the end of the age. Satan is the great imitator. He tells just enough truth to get you to go to hell,

Sam Rohrer:

David. That is perfect and that is why do you not think in ladies and gentlemen, we talk about so much when Jesus and Matthew 24 told the disciples that the time in which we’re described we’re living now the major problem would be deception. Look out for deception. And David, you just explained why deception can be so deceptive is because there in most cases the greatest deception has an awful lot of truth about it. That’s a great point to make. Any concluding thoughts here as we up the segment?

David New:

Yes, it is sad to see because where these people talk about it as white Christian America, if they want to attack Christianity, attack it as Christian America that I don’t have any problem with. But when they use race, what they don’t realize is they’re digging a deeper hole for all of us because they are furthering the racial hatred in this country. There is too much racial animosity, there’s too much racism in this country and these people feed it.

Sam Rohrer:

Absolutely. And ladies and gentlemen, we say so often there is and before God, no white or black, we’re all shades of tan. We are, we’re all shades of tan. I mean, what a thing. But that live of the race and superior race, whatever that may be, boy has it been used of the devil. And this is an example of how couched in religiosity, it just goes right to the heart. Now when we come back, we’re going to take and say that this hatred took truly to Christianity. It’s not just here in America, it’s also happening other places. And we’ll give some examples of that. Well, as we go into our final segment today, I trust that if you’ve been listening to the program so far that you have found it to be helpful, instructive. As we’ve looked at this book, the End of White Christian America, and the individual that wrote it as we’ve talked about how deceptive philosophies often couched in wonderful terms, as David just said, a fair amount of truth, but always with error in it can be some of the most deceptive and harmful.

There’s a lot of applications that we could make to that. But in this one here, we want to go a little bit further because the efforts by so many who are in, and we haven’t even used this term in this description today, but I’m going to use it now, who are in reality, Marxist in ideology. We’ve talked about worldview. Everybody’s got a worldview and worldview will drive what people think and how they act and all of that. But there are many, and we’ve talked about on many programs who through the last generations have held to a atheistic Marxist, anti-God, anti-biblical worldview. But they like termites come in and they operate under the cloak of religion. They’ve done it for a long time. So that part’s not new, but it is a condition that is continuing to steadily grow. In fact, the younger generation has been so primed to disdain the past and consider a completely rewritten history and view of Christianity and biblical Christianity and the framing of the foundation of American law and the rise of the West as in their mind a near criminal occurrence.

And that’s pretty much the thought of this book and the fellow who wrote it. But it’s brought the west and the United States to a point of very serious concern. Now, in an article I just received from the prophecy News, they wrote this in part, I’m just going to just read a part of it. They say this quote, biblical prophecy warns that the antichrist will emerge in a time of crises offering solutions that the world is desperate to accept. He will appear as a savior, bringing stability where there is chaos, unity, where there is division and prosperity, where there is a lack. And that comes from Revelation 13, 16 to 17. They go on to say, but his rule will ultimately lead to tyranny, persecution, and the suppression of truth. And here’s the final thought, generation Z, current attitude, that’s younger generation. Generation, Z’s current attitudes make them particularly susceptible to such a leader.

Their frustration with democracy, eagerness for radical change and willingness to surrender freedoms for the sake of efficiency mirror the conditions that have led to dictatorship throughout history. I thought that that was significant true and very real. An application to David, let me just go to you. They wrote this pretty much about generation Z here in America, but as a part of this overall strategy, we’re criminalizing white American. We’ve been talking about linking Christianity to suppression, which you so well described is not true. As you’ve said, this is all part of a larger attack against Christianity and biblical truth in general. But I know that you share this concern that you’ve also identified that this attitude is not only here, but it’s expanding in Europe as well, part of the west. Can you provide some evidence of this same hatred occurring in Europe?

David New:

I’m very sad to say there is plenty of evidence. I remember when I was running around Europe for a little while visiting various places, and when I was in England, I went to a lot of the major museums, the best ones. And sometimes I would run across in the display in the museum a comment about the Christian religion. And every single time it was hostile and negative. I couldn’t believe it. Now, this is back in the eighties. I’m going to discuss a report called, here’s the title, you can download it for free, ladies and gentlemen. It’s called Intolerance, intolerance and Discrimination Against Christians in Europe. Report 2024, let me say it again. Intolerance and discrimination against Christians in Europe. Report 2024, you can download that for free. They’ve been conducting and making these reports for about 15 years. This group that does it, and they’ve got some pretty frightening things to say. One of the paragraphs said this, the most affected countries in 2023 are France, United Kingdom and Germany with anti-Christian hate crimes doubling in Germany compared to last year. Now, if you are a public school teacher in the United States, or you work in a public library, you can wear a Christian Cross around your neck if you wish to.

Not in France illegal, no crosses, no symbols of any religion of any kind. In the nation of France. That’s what they call secular freedom in France. Let me read another paragraph to you of the incidents recorded by the O-I-D-C-A-C Europe in 2023. The most common forms of violence were vandalism, including many cases which involved acts of desecration as well as arson attacks, threats, physical violence. However, in 2023, Europe also recorded one case of murder, seven cases of attempted murder and a total of 68 attacks on persons with an anti-Christian bias. Interestingly, they said this in terms of physical violence converts to Christianity from a Muslim background or particularly vulnerable. If you’re a Muslim and you don’t want to be a Muslim anymore and you want to name the cause of Christ for yourself, you better watch it because they will kill you. They will kill you. In some instances it happens before.

Sam Rohrer:

Okay, David, do you have anything else there? And if not, that establishes it, that the bigger issue is not so much white Christianity, as you said, as really the focus is anti-Christianity and biblical truth couched in these other terms. So here we’re just about at the end of the program, David, how should God fearing people, those listening to the program, they respond to this very deceptive attack that’s underway, that we’ve discussed today. How should they think and respond to these things which are clearly happening?

David New:

The United Kingdom, they have imprisoned young people or older people who were praying silently to themselves near an abortion clinic. If you look like you’re praying, the police can come up and ask you, were you praying? And if you’re near an abortion clinic, they can arrest you and put you in jail. And by the way, president Trump just recently pardoned some pro-life people and some of them were guilty of prey near an abortion clinic. It’s come here,

Sam Rohrer:

And David, you didn’t get to fully answer my question at all, but you decided. Another good example, ladies and gentlemen, what should we do? Well, first of all, be aware that these things that we described are happening. Be aware that there’s an entire younger generation that have really bought into a lot of this. Those of us who know the truth need to believe it and act it out. And we need to communicate the truth of God’s word to those around us. Change hearts are the only thing that can change the culture and change a nation. See you back here tomorrow.
